Crawford County Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), is a 501(c) 3 non-profit public benefit organization. In February 1994, Crawford County CASA was incorporated after a group of community members formed a steering committee to work with the Juvenile Court and local agencies to establish a viable CASA program.  Our mission is to ensure that abused and neglected children are provided with every available opportunity to begin a journey into healthy, productive lives. By introducing caring, responsible adults into their lives, we help break the cycle of abuse and neglect. By engaging trained volunteers to advocate, we empower people in our community to place children's needs and well-being as a priority!

Crawford County CASA is dedicated to ensuring that children have a safe, permanent and nurturing home in the shortest time frame possible.

Crawford County CASA recruits, trains (intensive 35 hour training) and supports community members, like YOU, to be a voice for abused and neglected children not only in court but for the services they may need, or to just be able to see their siblings. CASA volunteers conduct an independent investigation by visiting with the child and learning about their situation, establish working relationships will all involved parties: Children and Youth Caseworker, Guardian ad litem, service providers, teachers, therapists, etc., and report their findings and recommendations to the Court.

Every day, there are children who experience being removed from their home and placed in a foster home or residential treatment facility. They are often separated from their siblings and caught up in a confusing and complicated system of social workers, foster homes, courts, and service agencies. Sadly, most of them must do the best they can to navigate this complex world without a dependable, consistent adult presence to help. Too many remain without permanent homes, fail to graduate from high school, and end up homeless, unemployed, incarcerated or dependent on social and welfare systems as adults. As a society: WE MUST DO BETTER!
