Start Your Journey
Join our passionate and dedicated group of volunteers who make a difference to a child during the toughest time in their life. People just like you are giving their time to help bring a voice to a child who needs one.
Your time and determination bring a sense of normalcy, stability, and permanency to children who through no fault of their own are involved with the child welfare system. You will make an impact by investing in their future and bring about the change that is needed.
What Do CASA Volunteers Do?
CASA volunteers listen first. Then they act.
Volunteers get to know the child by talking with everyone in that child's life: parents and relatives, foster parents, teachers, medical professionals, attorneys, social workers and others. They use the information they gather to help inform judges and others of what the child needs and what will be the best permanent home for them.
Who Can Be a Volunteer?
CASA volunteers come from all walks of life with a variety of professional, educational, and ethnic backgrounds. Some are retired educators or social workers, some volunteer while working full time or going to school. Regardless of their backgrounds or training, all of them simply want to help the most vulnerable members of their community. Because the children served by CASA volunteers are diverse in background and need, we strive to recruit volunteers diverse in skill and background.
As a CASA volunteer, you will be thoroughly trained and well supported by professional staff to help you through each case.
Crawford County CASA provides a policy of equal opportunity to all volunteer applicants without regard to age, race, ethnicity, national origin (ancestry), color, religious belief (creed), gender, gender expression, sexual orientation, military/veteran status, political affiliation, disability or physical challenge, or any other prohibited status in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws. Our EEO policy applies to all areas of advocacy, including recruitment and selection, training and development, awards and recognition, termination, and recreational and social activities.
